If this is classed as spam or get's stupid, feel free mods to close it but I'm genuinely interested to see what range of IQs people have on a computer based internet forum.

I'll start.

From doing various online IQ tests (4 - 5) they have been between 115 to 130, probably a 125 average.

Yours?

'bout the same as yours if I recall correctly, 'though I'd never put that down anywhere "officialy". Those online tests are crap and only test a small range of capabilities, when there are more areas which need to be tested for a more accurate IQ score.

Maybe, my scores do turn out quite respectable, they say 130+ is gifted 140+ is genius or something like that. I've only done about 4 or 5 tests and still not completely got the hang of them, the scores are largely based on time to complete problems and I believe the more tests I do I can get my score up to about 130 most times. They do seem quite accurate in my experience though, I seem to score pretty consistently through different tests but again I believe people can gain about 5% if they know what to expect. First go IQ tests for someone who's never completed one before aren't worth much.

I personally think that ones IQ score is an indication of how well one can do IQ tests - rather than an indication of general intelligence.

Having said that, mine was 141 when last measured - so it must be pretty accurate ;) :p

proper test, (mensa approved) I.Q. = 123

National U.K. Average = 106
Albert Einstein = 137
Sylvester stallone = 160

Do I.Q.`s mean that much ? based on the above and in my opinion... not in the slightest.

Giving an answer like that shows intelligence in iteself, agree 100%.

IQ tests NEVER give ANY accurate measurement because there's no measurement of the human intelligence.

Wouldn't the Einstein one be a guess and also it measures all round intelligence, so while his mathematic scores may have been high, he may have been lacking in language sections.

IQ is a recognised test, not just any old cobblers; a lot of people think that high IQ instantly means uber genius, and lower means thick as pig poo, but IQ is merely an estimation of intellectual capacity, as opposed to actual intelligence, if that makes any sense.

Einstein was rubbish at maths. :)

IQ test can be trained for, when I was at school I was put through an official mensa one at the age of 13 but had about two weeks of pretty intensive training before and came out with 176. Even on the online ones which are much easier I only get 145 or so now (I'm 25 btw) and thats largely because the job I do doesnt require me to play with numbers that much or find the correct shape to match some sequence, etc ;)

As has been said, IQ tests are very geared towards scientific minds and in most jobs your IQ will not have much bearing on how good you will be at it (unless it is excessively low or high). If there was an equivalent test for artistic talent then I'd probably be in the "needs to be put down" category.

My brother and sister both did the proper mensa test in Chester a couple of years ago, my sister scored 139 I think (greasy swot at school, now a chartered accountant for Kellogs). My brother the high school drop out with no qualifications scored 146 and was invited to join Mensa

I've never bothered myself, I know I'm a genius, dont see the need to pay money to prove what I already know :p
