Basically, whats the max amount of loose change you would use to pay for a item SOLELY with loose change?

I mean in a common shop not a restaurant.

I'd go up to £15 I reckon, more than that I'd feel a bit ashamed of myself.

What about you?

A fivers the limit for me, any more than that & it goes in the jar at home.

So you'd go up to £15 in loose change but not done so yet? Have you carried that much change in your pockets around with you before?

Do you know how much it weighs and makes you walk funny?!

All my loose change usually ends up in the self-service machines at Sainsburys.

However, there is a limit. They will spit out all your change if you decide to be a jerk and place loads of coins in there.

:o

This. :)

Separate my coins into coppers, 5ps and then silvers (10p+)/golds.

Have nearly £300 in change at the moment. :D

I tend not to carry cash full stop unless there is a reasonable need to do so such as paying for parking etc and even then i keep a load of change in the tray of the car for that sort of stuff.
i prefer to use card where possible.
if i get given any note cash its either used the next time i go shopping or it gets put into the bank.

Well last night i had a taxi driver pay for £60 of fuel in loose change. Mostly £1 coins but there was loads of silver as well.

I dont mind accepting change but i did feel quite smug when he asked for a reciept and he had to wait for me to count it :D

it depends, if there is a fair amount of 20s and 50s then i may push it to around £10, if theres a tonne of coppers and 5s then i really don't feel that the product or service i am purchasing is worthwhile for the amount of time i spent sorting change.

When writing the op I had £15 all in £1 pound coins in mind.

Does that seem excessive, should I reassess my life?

Not in pounds my friend, £15 in coppers and i would refer you to a specialist.

Edit: im not sure if anyone is pocket change consultant, but i shall try to find one.

If I include bank notes, then I could go up to a £30 spend at the supermarket. If you're talking shrapnel, then yeah prolly £15 like a few here have said already. I try to keep my bronze coinage to a minimum though by using that up first.

I have no roof for bank note use.

It calms down if you give it a moment. I've stood at that thing for nearly an hour pouring loose change into it
