34-35mpg on my way to work in the morning(80mph, motorway, fairly heavy footed). 38+ on a long run. Haven't seen 40 on the trip computer yet but then, I don't drive light footed at all!

2.0 turbo petrol A3 with DSG.

54mpg average - 1.8TDi Mk1 Focus saloon overclocked slightly.

Not too shabby :) Do you service yours fully? Had two of those in the family, but they were neglected, and died fairly promptly.

First one, turbo grenaded the engine, I blamed that on a lack of oil+filter changes.

Second one, Engine would cut out on hills, under heavy load, over 70 on the motorway. I thought it was the fuel sender/pump. Would have been a simple fix, but they decided to chuck that one too.

In the early days it was serviced regularly and at a main dealer. Sadly the staff there changed over time and I stopped taking it there when they claimed a whole lot of work needed doing at a cost of around £1,100. I took it elsewhere with a list of things they'd said and guess what - Most of them were not required.

Now it gets the fluids changed at semi-regular intervals and a service at similar semi-regular intervals. It's rusty, very rusty in places (bottom of the doors, etc) but it's mechanically sound apart from that.

Almost managed to get a clear run to work last week. I caught one set of lights at the wrong time though

Can't complain with this though :)

My old mk4 Golf 2.8 V6 4Motion showed 29mpg on the computer over approx 1000 miles when I sold it.

Mk6 Golf 2.0 GTI - 34 to 25mpg combined (up to 44mpg on a long run though).

Corrado 2.9 VR6 - Slightly more efficient than my 4motion so approx 31 to 32mpg but I tend to use it on longer journeys.

31MPG after a trip to London and back yesterday, I used to get 41-42 on the same trip - Just shows how much my driving style has changed from economy focused to CBA since starting walking to work!

I think the main cause is lack of cabin noise at speed, it's the same at 75, 85... Quite deceiving sometimes after a long stretch up the A3 looking forwards and I glance down at the needle

It's been fluctuating a little recently... Must be because I'm using my Lights, Heaters and Washers/Wipers a lot more on my journeys to and from work!..

Still not bad for a 10 Year old 1.4 Civic though! :)
