whats your price?

I've paid silly amounts in the past, some SNES games cost crazy money. I remember getting the first FX game that had the 3D chip in the cartridge. Same thing on the mega drive with virtua racing. Didn't think twice about handing over my hard earned pennies.

Now I earn a decent wage , but on the flip side I'm a grumpy old fart so £40 max, doesn't matter how good it is.

I think it is amazing that games have not gone up in price in like 30 years. In actual fact, with the internet, I am paying less than ever before for games. Whereas before I had no choice but pay local shop's price, now I rather pay over £40 for a new game.

If it's just a standard game coming out I'll wait until it's around £20-£25. But if it's something I absolutely HAVE to play (very very rare these days) then I'll stump up the cash for a day 1 purchase. Can't remember the last time I did that though if i'm honest.

It depends on the game.

I can't even think of one announced title that I will have to have on day one. The next Elder Scrolls will probably be it, and I'll happily pay full price for that. Probably even buy a console to play it on too.

If it's a classic I've missed, then £15 is an amount I'd pay. I just got a Gold Live account again so I could play Bioshock Infinite.

Mass Effect 4 is probably the only game I'd buy on release for £50. I wait until they get to £10 as Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider have done. Others will get there eventually I'm sure.

It's not particularly amazing when you put it in to context though. The market has increased significantly, so there are a considerable amount more people out there that will be likely to buy a game.

It depends on the game i usually wait forva £20-25 price or go 2nd hand. Exceptions are games i know i will sink many hours into eg Destiny and more recently the digital Bloodborne (i put 200+ hours into each of the souls games)

It all depends. It's around £40 for me , but if I have vouchers, or there is an offer on (like getting Bloodborne off the PSN for £40 with the paypal offer), I can agree to a higher asking price.

I mostly buy games on sale or 2nd hand.

£50 Fifa. Only game I play throughout the year.

I tend to make money on games I purchase. Buy them cheap, play em, sell on for more than I paid on eBay. Them suckers don't tend to search any further than eBay for deals.

Unless it's a special edition with extras I want, then £40 is max.

Pretty much the same for me.

I tend to pay around £40-45 for brand new AAA games but this is more down to the fact I get them from my local independant rather than Amazon (where possible). Their prices are normally inline with online + postage so I am happy to pay a couple of £ extra for the service (and retro support).

Limited editions I will pay more for if they have value added that I care about. Destiny for example I paid £84. I got the game, Ltd edition bundle with some cool artwork & the season pass. The game and season pass alone came to £80 at the time of purchase so I only paid £4 extra in real terms.

I'm not too fussed what the price is but typically pay £35-£40 for a new release.
It's more about whether the game is worth buying at all. Very few are to me these days.

People are mad with what they will pay. I just found out the FFXV demo was going for up to £30 Ebay - not sure if people were paying that or not but still, that's insane given that FF Type-0 was only £32 with free release day delivery.
I really wish I'd sold that demo now - as good as it was, I never assumed people would pay anything more than a few quid for it!!

I still got a Donkey Kong Country 3 SNES box and game at my parents with its price tag on still.... bought it from Toys R us for 59.99  (well my parents bought it for me when I was younger). Still best 59.99 ever spent, I loved DK3 ! :)

So yea..... but generally £40 is the max I will pay for a new game. Depends on the game though and how much I want it.

£40-45 is about right for me. I only buy AAA games on disc as I point blank refuse to pay digital prices for a game I can't trade in afterwards. Buying on disc means I can sell afterwards and if I only get £20 then it means I've paid £20-25 for a game.

£40-45 is a reasonable price to pay I think but to be honest I will happily pay more if I want the game, even stupid prices for collectors editions.

I used to buy a lot of import games in the days when there were months between Jap/USA and UK release dates and they often cost £100 or so and considering that the prices now are not bad.

I am almost 40 and i used to own a "Neo-Geo" console , i won't even say what price games used to be hahaha. I bought 2 games second hand then used mail order swap shops whenever i wanted a change.
