Hi,

Was wondering what some of you might think.

I recently ordered quite a few parts from OCUK but one part concerned me quite a bit. An unboxed GTX 980, was just put underneath a flower 1000w psu in some folded over anti-static wrapping with a sticker and bubble some bubble wrap. I couldn't even tell you who the manufacturer of the reference g980 is.

Here's the more concerning part, when I got to the point of inserting the GTX 980 I opened it and found the backplate was bent, I got the bottom screw (main hole) to screw in which straightened the back plate a bit and the card actually still worked! (unable to get a old dell 30" dvi-d and 2 display port driven screens to run without windows blue screening but 2 work fine). Now I've asked OCUK about if I should RMA or replace, in my opinion it should not be an RMA it should be clean replace with one that comes in a box, sealed, unopened, undamaged, call me funny like that and even more funny about stuff like that on components over £400.

Some pictures are www.aftc.co.uk/overclockers.co.uk

You can also see how much care was taken with the system case (but it was fine, saved by the foam inside)...

I've yet to hear anything from OC.

What's your thoughts?

D

I personally like it RMA'ed what brand was the GPU meant to have been? I have noticed OcUK of this thread but you will have more luck posting in the support section on this site but you more then likely will not hear anything until Monday morning at the earliest.

Hmmm. Not filled with hope.

I stopped buying things from ** do not mention competitors ** as everything I ordered from them had been opened on multiple orders. Now I only buy cables from them or amazon.

I've been buying stuff from OCUK since 2006, but have had issues before, 2 sets of RMA on my previous graphics card (1st round they didn't test at the screen resolution I was at and had to create youtube videos to show them) and then I ordered something that went through some fun with me and support asking "any ideas when it will arrive?" (next day delivery turned out to be was +4 or +5 days).

Seems they are not what they used to be, could be time to start paying that little bit extra for ***** and give other shops a go...

To be honest, I think it's a *** Please fully start out swearing *** take to not replace it, send one out and pick up the other one up at the same time. They didn't even comment on the fact that it was not boxed which annoyed me even more.

Well it works, it's a little wonky, but it works... I will print out a box for it and some fake instructions for when I come to sell it a few years from now saying that it is a unique NOKIA Reference version, complete with custom OCUK bent IO plate.

The card has 'OEM' in it, which may well mean it never had a box to go with it.
Not sure I quite appreciate the way it was apparently packed however, as we all know how parcel handlers do their work.

I'd probably send it back with a note 'Damaged due to poor packaging'.

On 16th of October: I sent a Web Note
On 16th of October: I got told to send photos
On 17th of October: I create mico website with photos attached which I sent to RMA
On 22nd of October: I got an email from [email protected] requesting pickup time and location (reply is noreply) so I replied to rma trying to get some information about the process etc

27th - Still awaiting response...

I only came to this free message board to see if I can find out some information and possibly get things moving.

If this was a non-functional graphics card instead of a simple bent back i/o plate this would have cost me a lot of down time and quite possibly my client.

Will finish the work I have to do and then re-contact OCUK.
