Hey there,

My window panel on my 750d has got so dusty in the past week that iv had it, that I couldn't turn a blind eye, I had to clean it.

I hear that wiping it with cloth can leave micro scratches and stuff, so what I did was use the shower head with warm water and rinsed it off, then used a hair dryer on warm setting to blow all the water off it and it looked pretty clean and didn't leave any streaks, but by the time id walked to my computer and re-fitted my window panel, it was almost as dusty as before I took it off!

So I took it off again, used compressed air to blow it off, half it came off, still wasn't satisfied so thought im going for it, going to use a cloth, so used the cloth which I got with my telescope, that got most of it off, but I can still see some bits of dust etc on the inside.

Whats your methods to get it brand spanking new? Any tricks to keep the dust from sticking?

Thanks

It's difficult. Fans and lots of airflow ensure that the acrylic or perspex windows are always nicely charged with static. I've become utterly resigned to my case window being permanently dusty. My case is an awful Phantom 410 which is primarilly plasic and sits on a relatively fluffy carpet. Dust is pretty much unavoidable, but the case isn't in my line of sight so I can mostly forget about it!

You could possibly look into plastic polishes or treatments which might prevent some of the static buildup. I don't know any off the top of my head, but look around. A more drastic solution might be to look in to having a glass window made. A thin piece of glass wouldn't be too expensive depending on the shape of the window, and would definately have less static than acrylic.

As for cleaning, don't bother with the hairdryer and water. They'd only be putting more charge onto the window, most likely. A quick wipe with a static cloth isn't going to ruin your window...

lol, iv got ocd too much to just leave it!

Iv noticed that if I just wipe the outside of the window when its on the case, the static loosens the dust up on the inside, that coupled with the fans on full can sometimes dislodge bits of dust from the inside of the window then out of the exhaust which is the first time iv ever found static useful lol. not sure if this is dangerous or not though :p

I take the window out of the side panel and wash it off in the shower, dry it with a towel and then use some glass cleaner on it with a Microfibre Cloth :) Works wonders

Antec x3 cleaning spray and a microfibre cloth is what I use. The antec spray does reduce dust due to static a bit better than just using a cloth. I expect lcd screen cleaners would work well too.
