A not so hyperthetical thread this time. Should make it easier and i'll do anything to pass time in work so here goes

What engine, drivetrain do you prefer and why?

Example

I prefer a high revving 4 cylinder by the Jap's in an FWD chasis with a manual transmission

I've tried AWD, RWD, Turbo etc, only thing I havent tried is more than 4 cylinders however I have mates that have had V6 VAG engines and I never really liked them.
I prefer FWD high revving NA engines because they are so much fun to drive also understear is more predicatable for me than overstear and I prefer the point and shoot charactistics of this kind of car, even though i've tried different things I keep going back to this setup as they are reliable, fun to drive (you cant beat hitting the power band at 6k RPM in second as you're screaming out of a corner IMO) cheap to run and plenty of parts available if you fancy modding etc

So, whats your preference and why?

I'm rapidly going off Turbo Charged cars vs an NA engine you have so many complications you have to ask yourself is it worth the effort?

I say no it not, the amounts of annoyances with the 20VT that I had put me off, I was tempted to get another but i'm glad I didnt, NA is better off in terms of reliability IMO

And high revving four pots sound nothing like moped, how rude!

Can we ban the people who prefer diesel over the choices given? I mean seriously I get the fact the real world gets in the way of many great engines but to actually prefer diesel over those choices yet claim an interest in cars

A sign of times that diesel is in second place :(

I do enjoy being a minority though, makes me feel special :D

I preferred 6 cyl 3.0 BMW engines before I realised I couldn't pull away from a 2005 Honda Civic Type-R from 30mph > xxxmph yesterday :(

Is it wrong to smirk whilst reading this

should have a Vtec option, high revving small capacity just isn't the same as Vtec yo.

Eh? VTEC is just Honda's version of a high revving FWD

Dunno which one to pick, my choice would be a N/A VTEC engine and FWD with 4WS

Thats high revving FWD

many copies, only one true original

The fact that you're being serious makes the baby jesus weep, the original was created by an employee of Honda and was first applied to motor bikes

But the isn't an option for that, just high revving small capacity :S

Oh yeah, 2.2 isnt massive capacity though, i'd still say it applied, tick the box!!!

The average engine size of a UK car is 1.7 litres, the 2.2L Preludes/Accord type-r's, 2.5L NSX's and 3.0L Accords are all above that, just because the are a lot of 1.5L Jazz I-VTEC's running around dragging the average down doesn't mean all VTEC fall into the "small capacity high rpm" range.

Going on that logic a 1.7L Volvo 480 turbo (108bhp) and a 2.0L Supra twin turbo (205bhp) would be in the same class as their both "small capacity" turbos.

God sake I was suggesting that if you were to pick an option that applies then pick that option, theres no need for a debate!
