WhatsApp Chat backup stuck on Preparing?

Hi All

Noticed my whatsapp chat hasn't backed up since the 17/11/22 @ 14:08

I've signed out and into iCloud, reset my network setting (iPhone 13 Pro Max 256GB) restarted my handset

I have 2TB iCloud storage? 172GB used

I'm concerned I'll lose nearly 2 weeks of chat, photos etc if I "delete data"

Is there anything else I can try before I do that

Try a "forced" restart first - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/iph8903c3ee6/ios
But you can always remove the current iPhone backup from iCloud and then see if WhatsApp will backup - take a iTunes backup (should include WhatsApp data) first in case you have to roll back, then under iCloud Settings > Storage > Backup, delete the iPhone backup and try and see if WhatsApp will play ball.

If you're worried about privacy then it's worth mentioning that iCloud isn't encrypted, in the sense that Apple (and Co) have access, so set an end-to-end backup password in WhatsApp before backing up to iCloud.

I’m confused as to what’s going on, I deleted my WhatsApp “app” with the understanding I’d maybe lose a weeks or so’s data, photos and chat etc but when I reinstalled it only picked up 150mb of data restore? From 2020? The last good back up was the 17th of November 2022? I thought WhatsApp gave up multiple restore dates or does it just pick it up automatically?
