So with Whatsapp announcing the ability to move messages, photos etc from Android to iPhone was happy to hear, until you can only do it to a brand new iPhone, not an existing setup on.

I have number of messages on my old android phone I want to keep, one of the reasons why not installed Whatsapp on my iPhone last year, as wanted to migrate everything over, since it looks like not possible with this update, any other ways to migrate messages from android to iphone?

As per the article:
  • Your iPhone must be ‘factory new’ or you need to ‘reset to factory settings’ before you pair it with the ‘Move to iOS’ app and move data from your Android phone.
My iPhone is not factory new as been using it for the last year.

I used a third party app to move them across for my mother in law', cost £30 though. Didn't work but an update sorted it out (Wondershare MobileTrans). It was stressful and things didn't go as planned but got there in the end.

I haven't used it myself but I've heard good things about Wondershare as well, could give that a go, the current transferring system is still very limited.

Despite my issues, I would still recommend it. Plus their support was quite good at getting back to me/troubleshooting. It's a steep price but that was a lifetime license. If I ever switch to iOS, I think I am just going to start fresh any way. I rate Wondershare Filmora as well (video editor).
