Whattsapp - temp disable?

We are off om holiday soon and my daughter has asked if we can get rid of whatsapp on her phone as she knows she will be hooked to her phone messaging and not enjoying herself! And i want to do somethinig similar with work!

So a 2 part question:
  • Can you temp disable all of whatssapp for a period of time and then reenable at a later date?
  • Can you block/make it show that you are offline to certain whatssapp contacts?!

I didn't want to uninstall/backup etc in case anything went wrong - also app killers were pretty ineffective (non-root phone).

I force stopped whatssapp and that seems to have done the trick - the second i re-opened the app or restarted the phone the messages came in and the sender got the second tick. So i will just use force stop.

It's no good putting "on holiday" notifications etc, if the work see i have received/read their message they will expect a reply - so best to avoid this possibility althogether.

Many, many businesses use whattsapp for instant communication - it is very simple for a my office/work colleague to send a 'quick' query.

I know in some areas you are only on duty when you clock in and when you clock off the business can go and stuff - i am paid 365 days a year, 24hrs a day and we also have some high profile projects on the go atm - rather than refuse to answer the message, i would rather play the game of not actually receiving the message in the first place.

I hope you understand my logic on this.
