Why are people daft? - Rift CV1 is now shipping 2-4 days after order, but...

People are still purchasing used ones from eBay at higher prices than they can get them brand new direct from Oculus.

Some are even on buy it now for £700 and morons are buying them. Surely if someone is interested in getting a CV1 they are checking the latest news and updates direct from the vendor?

https://www3.oculus.com/en-us/blog/announcing-oculus-connect-3-and-rift-availability-update/

Not only have Oculus stated supply has caught up with demand but purchasing any Oculus CV1 from eBay (even sold as new) invalidates your warranty.

https://www3.oculus.com/en-us/legal/limited-warranty/

I could understand when CV1 was taking months to get but now it takes a few days why are people still paying over the odds for used models with no warranty. Madness.

Anyway... stop being stupid people :D

Vr in general or are you a vive lover.

I have a Vive, but I would far from convince anyone to buy one at this stage. Not many games (more than Oculus however) and what is there is basically mobile quality games at a premium price that last a few hours at most.

Unfortunately it will take mainstream uptake to make better AAA games and we will unlikely see that with Oculus or Vive first gen, but maybe with the release of PSVR we might see a few AAA games.

I was just wondering the same thing OP.
I guess sometimes people just can't be bothered to to a bit or research before purchasing. That or they're multimillionaires and can afford to not care about cost or warranty etc.

Tempted to sell mine at those prices! That would make me a bit of an unscrupulous douchebag though.

I'm slightly suspicious that some of the items on ebay are a front for illegal transfers of money.

Maybe but someone bought my Vive for +£200 and then had the cheek to ask for the software activation codes despite the advert clearly stating they were't available because the titles were "expensive to buy on steam".

The question is how long this will last. I know that 52% of the UK population voted "out", are they the same people paying over the odds?

Not long would be my guess. I had a look and I can see some on there now for much less than £700

I would say in a matter of weeks they will (and should) be going for under the MSRP. I honestly don't blame the sellers at all and fair play to them, it's the idiots who pay way over the odds for used items.

IMHO any used items should be minimum 25% cheaper than new. So used Rift CV1 should be less than £400.
