I had the wheel alignment/geometry checked over the weekend on the Octy vRS.
Was getting two new tyres and didn't want them going the same way as one of the old ones - scrubbing away at an alarming rate.

We had a bit of a discussion before starting.
I was going to have the new Falken's on the front and my two good Bridgestone's on the back.
We then decided to put my older Bridgestone's on to the front and the brand new Falken's onto the back.

Car up on the "Hunter" equipment, compares some 14 different measurements with the latest manufacturers specification.
5 of these settings were immediately flagged "Red" as well outside of manufacturers settings.
Guys spent about an hour making changes, bringing the reds back to manufacturers settings and also changing some of the "green" settings so they were closer to the revised manufacturers settings.

My car now feels like a completely different beast.
There is just so much grip there all the time, the car just feels so perfect around corners etc.

Cost me £25 for the initial Hunter scan.
Then £50 for the hours worth of labour to make changes and then another check, a few more adjustments and then the final scan.

If you are considering getting your wheel alignment/geometry checked I cannot recommend enough the "Hunter" equipment - it checks so much more and I feel the end result is going to be better than what you'll get at a normal tyre fitters.
To me it was worth every penny of the £75+vat it cost me.

Looking at my "Before & After" print out.
Every one of the 14 measuremants is different in my "after" settings than the "before".
Not sure if that indicates that all 14 can be manually changed or that changing some manually can effect some of the other settings.

I had my Integra re-aligned just after Christmas, some three years and ~12k miles after it was last done. The difference was amazing, most noticeable in the damp. Now all I need is to get my new bushes and camber arms fitted, then it'll be done again.

Worth every penny IMO

Interesting. I think I will finally have to give this a go. Seeing as my steering wheel is not actually straight anymore, I am thinking there must be something amiss somewhere!!

"Would you like tracking with that, sir?" -- Kwik Fit

"Would you like fries with that, sir?" -- McDonalds

Not all that much difference really :D

Hunter all the way though

14 adjustments on the mk2  I think my mk1 vRS has about 3 :p I know something at the back of mine is slightly out of spec but can't be adjusted without shims.

O don't, I haven't even found the right one to buy yet and I'm already dreading having to do this, even though I know it'l be worth it.

If you're in the Cambridge/Huntingdon area may I recommend:

http://www.track-club.com/

You'll see that their main business is track and race car hire.
However they have to look after all of those vehicles and have a massive workshop just outside Kimbolton.

I had excellent service from them, really knew what they were doing.
They can also fit you in really quickly - three other places I tried were all quoting up to a month before they could see me as they were repair centres and all claimed a massive increase in the number of repairs over this winter/snow period.
