Hello all,

Apologies for the beginner's question, I'm new at car maintenance etc.
A rear arch on my Focus is looking bubbly, and I wondered what the best way to maintain it would be? Is there anything protective to stop further bubbling/rusting, or how would you treat it?

It's the inside lip, perpendicular to the panel

Thanks!

Probably best to rub down affected area to bare metal, treat rusty area with hammerite kurst and get arches repainted. As anything else will be a temporary fix.
What car is it and how old?

Or if the affected section isn't too large or "deep"into the metal panel you could purchase a cheap spot blaster and a bag of grit, then just primer filler, paint and finish

Ah wait, you live in Cornwallcestershire don't you..... Sell it and buy a DeLorean :p

Fords have a corrosion guarantee of between 6 and 12 years depending on the model if I recall correctly, so it may still be within this?
