Wheel nuts that look like a torx head

Dear OcUK

I bought a golf at the weekend with some interesting looking wheel nuts. I hadn't seen them before but they didn't look too exotic. And in the grand scheme of things that can go wrong with a car, wheel nuts are not difficult to fix.

The one thing I am struggling with is what the hell they are called? They look like a giant torx bit might be able to fit them except they are a 9 pointed star and not a 6 pointed star. There is a locking wheel nut in the boot with the spare wheel but it doesn't fit these... not helpful.

So - any ideas gang?

They are plastic wheel nut covers. There should be a bent piece of wire with a hook on the end with your spare. Hook it into the hole in the plastic and pull them off.

If it's a standard Golf I'm almost certain they'll be plastic covers, they just pop off with a little pin tool you get in the boot.
