Howdy :)

Looking to build my first wheelset, as I want a specific disc hubs on specific rims, and I'd like to learn how to build and true wheels myself. Any advice regarding my choices and spoke lengths below would be appreciated!

Front, 28h:
HplusSon Archetype Rim
Shutter Precision PD8 dynamo hub

Rear, 32h:
HplusSon Archetype Rim
Novatec D772 hub

Using the Edd spoke calculator, it says I need (for 3cross):

Front:
Spoke length left 292.4 mm
Spoke length right 292.3 mm

Rear:
Spoke length left 288.2 mm
Spoke length right 288.9 mm

Obviously, you can't buy spokes in non-integer lengths, so would I be looking at buying 292mm for Front, and half 288mm, half 289mm for the rear?

Also, looking at DT Swiss Comp black spokes and DT Swiss black alu nipples, 12mm. Will be buying on payday in about a week, so I've got a week to read up on wheelbuilding before I buy the parts and tools!

Also, any reason why alu nipples? Brass ones resist corrosion better and the weight difference isn't worth mentioning.

I was looking on the Rose site and the Alu nipples have a substantially higher review rating than brass. That, and the Sapim website says that modern anodised alu nipples are just as resistant to corrosion, and are actually stronger than brass. Is that all just sales-talk?

Have a look at the ones from Cyclebasket

Ta :)

They only come in 2mm Even increments from that site, so if the calc says I need:

Rear:
Spoke length left 288.2 mm
Spoke length right 288.9 mm

..then should I be getting half 288 and half 290 for the rear? Will the extra 1mm cause any issues?

*edit*

read up a bit more, and people recommend rounding down. I need to do some more reading!
