Hi looking for abit of advice. My car is due to go into the shop on monday for 3 days to have my alloys stripped and powdercoated.

2 of them have bead seal leaks one which was repaired with a wirebrush/grinder solution but it may of made a slight mess for when its going to be coated. Although it occasionally leaks a tiny ammount

Is it worth asking for bead sealer to be applied when my tyres are being re-fitted? I run at 30psi but the remaining leaking alloy has been leaking to 15psi within a week. Any experiences with this stuff? Thanks

As long as they refurbish and paint the inside of the rim where the tyre sits as well as the face of the wheel, then you wont have any problems with them sealing.
The Powdercoat is usually of a decent enough thickness to "fill" the gaps, so you end up with a smooth surface once more.

Tyre fitters don't generally use bead sealer unless you ask for it, they just use the tyre soap.

Well its in. The guy runs them up on machines and fills out any problems first and is confident i won't need any bead sealer on them. But if i have any leaks all i got to do is pop them back to him and he will apply some if its still an issue but he doesnt like using it on fresh coated wheels
