When Achievements Aren't nough......

Alternate endings have absolutely nothing to do with achievements. MS came up with achievements and they are sometimes forced in by the developers with little consideration.

Alternate endings however, are part of the game design and should just come into the reviewing of an individual game. You cant cast a blanket statement over all games.

Maybe the lack of development time has meant games are lacking slightly, guess we will see in time.

Waste of someones time writing that article, seemed more like an excuse to gloat he has finished Gears of War on insane.

^^ What roboffer said.

I've got no love for achievements myself - a waste of time that add nothing to gaming IMO. But that said, if other people think they're a good idea & add to their gaming experience - then they're perfectly valid. :)

Don't agree with the guy really. He finished the game on Insane and was disappointed by the fact that he didin't get anything special?

Well, yes, it would have been nice, but there are not that many people who will do that, a tiny percentage of the total number. Developers are reluctant to spend time on something that a tiny number of people will see. It is a shame, but if you are going to do that, it is better to go the whole hog and do the Dead Rising type thing.

I am currently working through the game on Insane and loving it, as he said, but thats the main appeal to me. It is fun. And, if I do it all, I get an achievement. No big deal, but nice to acknowledge what you have done.

you also get a special gamer pic when you finish it on insane :)

i like the achievement system, it gives me the incentive to play the game again
