when adding ram

on a ds4 running geil at 2.1 vlots do i need to adjust the default which i presume is 1.8 upto + 0.3 so its 2.1 volts or does it auto adjust

You need to set it to +0.3v.

right added the ram and the computer won't boot..

any ideas at all..

i added 0.3 volts to the ddrll power do i need to set the timings as well.

By default 5-5-5-18 will be set as timings I think for that memory. Just try booting with 1 stick, if that works up the DDR voltage +0.3v then set the timings correctly and if you use more then 2 sticks it's probably a good idea to up the NORTHBRIDGE voltage a bit NBv. It can be hard on the nb with 4 sticks.

if its 2x2gb you may need to up your nb volts to +.2v

its four sticks of 1gb geil i'm installing...runs fine with two upped the volts to 0.3 still wouldn,t boot..
will try upping the nbv to plus 0.1 then to 0.2 tomorrow and see if that works..

thanks every one upped the northbridge by 0.1v and it booted first time...
