When are the Intel 2014 chips expected ?

I agree, every time a new CPU comes out I wonder if I should upgrade, but the cost to replace the 2500k never seems to be worth the minor upgrade. As long as it keeps my R9 290 at 100% usage, which it does, then why bother.

I have the one in my rig at 4.5 with cas 8 memory. Have yet to see a single person on the forums post a good enough reason to spend the money on a new board and cpu. Ironically, my last cpu was a q6600. I prefer to invest money into the graphics card (spent a grand on a w/c 690 a year and a half ago).

I think things will change a lot this xmas when the next gen only games come out like arkham knight. I doubt my 690 will cut it maxed out, but I have a feeling the 2500k just might be ok.

roll on x99, im on x58 with a i7 920, not even any sata 3 intel ports lol , the new tech cant come fast enough!

I'm in the same boat. The 920 is a great CPU, too good in a way, it's still not that worthwhile upgrading. I'm waiting for Broadwell and DDR4 as it's been so long since I upgraded a bit longer wont hurt.

What, in your opinions, chaps would be the absolute minimum CPU to upgrade to from a X4 975 black edition considering future game releases?

I'd want the upgrade to last at least four years (approximately) and I'm not really bothered about overclocking the thing either. I know it's guess work but I'm not sure when to pull the trigger.

Maybe I'd be better off creating a new thread rather than stealing this one, but I'd like your thoughts please.
