When are you going fully electric?

Nice, that'll be fun! Did they indicate how long it'd take before you'd get it?

Thanks.

I pushed the button about a week ago. They said (being a "nearly new") should be 4-6 weeks but after a few chats and explaining I'm away from the 20th December its hopeful I should get it in the next fortnight - fingers crossed ...

Just picked up the Tavascan.

Loving it so far. Except the faff with the insurance as it Seat’s own drive away didn’t have it in their system… lol.

Will give a little write up later in the week.

I really am loving the looks of the electric cupras....I know under the hood they are similar to other cars but visually I think they are a step u p from other cars on the platform
I was hoping my folks would buy one but I think that ship has sailed now and their current car will see them out

Tavascan is one of my favorite looking EV's along with the EV6, doesnt look boring inside or out. Now that VAG has sorted the tech/motors/efficiency its got to be a great shout.

It's a light show when you unlock and lock it :D
Interior lighting is a bit much, but you can change the setting sof course. I'm not sure on this "AMBIENT LIGHT ALL THE THINGS!" craze :D

In April EV owners will be paying £180ish on vehicle tax, I just want to confirm how do I play this annually instead of spread over monthly please? The website doesn't really mention this scenario but it will be happening to a lot of people. I assume we'll be emailed it's happening around that time?

Just like any VED. You should get a renewal notice in the post.

Pay in March for 12 months and it will be free.

yep everyone should do this. I did mine this year just incase the service gets overwhelmed. hopefully the government won't close the loophole and update it to work out the monthly cost from April. it moans at you telling you you will lose the rest of the money you paid by paying early.,..... but for me 3 months of zero pounds lost was a small price to pay to hopefully get another 12 months free tax :D
I am still peed off they are retrospectively hitting EVs but "eco" diesels will still have low tax (or are they getting hit too, but I don't think they are)

older ICE cars on £0/£30 are not getting hit.

I thought they were abolishing Band A from the pre-2017 tax system, so anything currently paying £0 as Band A (regardless of fuel) will effectively be bumped into Band B at £20?

Edit - or more accurately, looking at the proposed table in the finance bill, the rate for Band A is being set to £20, the same as Band B is.

Post 2017 tax system being the removal of the exemption, so they'll land with the standard £195.

Has there been a particular development or something? I know they were quick out the traps with the iD.3 and the Cupra Born but they never seemed to get much of a good response for their efficiency.

This makes zero sense. Why should anything with a ICE pay less (in this case massively less) than a zero pollution EV? This is yet another reason that will put people off buying EV's, it's ridiculous!!

Because the tax system stopped being based on varying grades of emissions in 2017. It hasn't "made sense" ever since because you could pay more (or less) for the same car with the same emissions if it fell into the new tax system rather than the old.

There is probably a vaguely valid argument it would have been better at the time to retrospectively set all vehicle taxes to a fixed rate, rather than leave pre-2017 on the varying rates but too many people would probably have been upset by that.

@tripitaka

I'm in a debate with somebody about OVO ANYTIME.
They reckon they get their EV charged 25/7/365 at 7p/Kw but on the OVO site is says:

3. Set your EV to charge

  • Choose when you want your EV ready by, and we'll work out the greenest time to charge
  • Or select Charge Now to charge immediately at your normal household rate
So in other words it charges exactly like Intelligent Go, it decides when you can have cheap electricity and it isn't 7p for 24/7/365.

Am I right?
