When are you going fully electric?

Nope they are not that great, I have looked at them fairly recently, even asked for prices on some used ones.

Cheapest PCH deal for short term (24 months) is the Vauxhall Astra (115kW GS 54kWh 5dr Auto) - works out at ~£5.7k all in. Or if you want a small SUV the Hyundai Kona (160kW Advance 65kWh 5dr Auto) is ~£6.8k for 24 months all in.

Obviously getting something used is the better bet, ~£12.5k for a 21 plate 64kWh Hyundai Kona, probably lose a few K in a few years.

Waiting for nasher to tell us which EV he’s driven still @Nasher

Yeah, I have a relative who owns a 2022 BMW 5 M Sport and insists EVs have terrible handling, despite never having driven one. I took him for a spin in my I-Pace on a B road and we drove spiritedly but not dangerously so. He could not believe a 2.3 ton EV could handle so well and begrudgingly admitted it was better than his 5 series for handling.

I don't think comparing the handing of a 5 series is a fair comparison tbh. They are not known for their handling characteristics. An m2,m3,m4 and m5 would destroy 99% of EV’s on a B road.

My mate has a 2020 i Pace and got absolutely dropped by me in my m2 on some Norfolk B roads.

I think most EV drivers would agree that it is hard to know where the limit is when cornering hard.

With an ICE car you can tell when you are at the cornering limit by sound, gear, speed and feel. (Also better feedback when you go over the limit)

Way to miss the point entirely. I’m trying to point out that EVs can’t have good handling is a myth.

I could just as easily ridicule the comparison of an M2 vs an SUV style car.

Would destroy 99% of ICE cars too so not sure what we are saying here

5 series vs I Pace is a much closer comparison than M car vs anything that isn’t a special model really

Posting that 5 Series vs iPace isn't a fair comparison and then comparing an iPace to a 2 Series as if that's somehow a more fair comparison is just pure wind up / rage bait territory.

Well the BMW G87 M2 is based on the same chassis as the M3 and M4 so... Also the MSRP is about the same £70k.

You keep missing that point buddy.
Well, I never said Ev’s handle badly. I just said that it’s hard to know where the limit is when pushing on a B road.

I have only driven 2 EV’s a Tesla model 3 performance and a Ford mustang Mac e awd. I just felt a distinct lack of communication and feel on a B road.

People have an obsession with handling and feel like everyone is driving a 2 seater sports car. The reality is unless you have something really really special, most cars have that disconnected feel. Even the likes of the M3 aren’t really as sharp as they used to be 2 or 3 generations ago. They are fast as fudge, but so is something as ordinary as a Tesla Model y LR.

And around we go. Though you are sorta getting it with the “I never said EVs handle badly” comment.

For clarification, that disconnected feel describes 99.9% of every single consumer road car that has ever been made. EV or ICE.

The “myth” I was busting was the idea that ALL EVs have poor handling and that all ICE > than all EVs.
