When are you going fully electric?

£40k for the 5 (£45k for the limited edition first cars with solar roof) and the 6 is £50k.

Model Y is expected to be £45k isnt it? I would say they are bang on the money.

One of my work colleagues has ordered an Ioniq 5 ‘Project 45’ which is £48K on the road. I believe the 58kWh 125kW RWD model will be £36-£40K dependent on how many toys you want. Then £39-43K for the 77kW 150kW RWD ‘long range’ car, then £40-44K for the 58KW 170kW AWD car then £50K for the 77kWh 230kW AWD car, which is probably the one you actually want. So I think you need to compare apples with apples and the £40K RWD car will compete head-on with the Tesla Model Y std range and the £50K car will compete with the Model Y LR. The as-yet unannounced Ioniq 5 N (equivalent to the Kia EV6 GT) will be £55K-ish to compete against the Model Y performance.

so the Q4 is the same platform as enyaq and id4 , and drive systems/weight(metals)/suspension should be similar -

One of the many short-comings of Euro NCAP is that the grille is ignored for the purposes of the rating, hence big grilles are increasingly a design feature on brick like SUVs as it circumvents the rating. The bottom line is that being run into by one, particularly as someone of shorter than average adult height (e.g. a child) is even worse than most cars.
so is that the etymology of all these grills - bmw etc ]

field still seems limited for conventional (aerodynamic) saloon profile ev's, let alone an estate - polestar, id3, model3

Clearly let the Q4 Etron take the performance angle before ID4 GTX was shown.

Circumvents is a strange, misleading word. Large grille can be designed as energy absorption and deflection surfaces to reduce injury to a pedestrian, its the very reason for the emergence of 'nose cone' type bumpers. Its part of the NCAP criteria!

Plus grilles are good to get the air to low temp circuits and condensers to manage cabin and powerpack temps that sometimes both need to be cooler than ambient. you dont have huge temp differentials like on an ICE so don't fall into the trap reading EV don't need cooling anyway. But then what do i know.

yes, grills could be designed as pedestrian friendly, but are they ? or are they just advertising hoardings, which would be, reprehensible.
(polestar, on its side is very friendly with it's popup bonnet , I believe)
Also, if they are active, they perhaps don't degrade the aerodynamics too much, and, yes, provide cooling when needed.

... but - I posted it to see if anyone knows more about ncap - it's a daming insight on suv style, in general, if true.

as someone who's just ordred a porsche where folding mirrors / auto wipers were extras I feel the pain! oh and climate control ffs

It's a Porsche that is expected, but even Mercedes didn't have the cheek to charge for a reversing camera on a C Class in 2014, obviously Audi are really struggling to make profit on BEV's so have cut everything back to be an added option. You have to laugh at SONOS being branded a premium sound system, ah SONOS synonymous with premium sound quality. :p

The spec of the Q4 E-Tron is probably model version dependant. The Sport comes with nothing and the Vorsprung has most of it as standard. A reversing camera was still an option on some 2014 Merc C class's !

There are not any more great lease deals , the days of a Golf R for under 6k are well and truly gone

Lol £6k upfront and 48 months at £400.79, 5000mpa, so almost £25k for the whole term, the S-Line 150kW adds only ~£1,700 so that is much better, but you'd be mad to order one on PCH.
