When best to use PAC code?

Not done this for a long time so am a little confused.

Would my notice period have started when I requested the PAC code? If so I presume it is then best to wait around three weeks before using it and activating my new sim to reduce the time I am paying for but not using the old one?

Or does the notice period only start when I use the code?

Network is 3 btw if that makes a difference?

Your PAC is valid for 30 days, after that it expires and you have to request a new one.
If you don't use it and don't request a new one I assume you are kept on a rolling tariff with your existing provider.

There is no notice period with a PAC, when you use it your number transfers next working day. If you still have time left on your contract, you'll be charged for the remaining days of your minimum term.

Pro tip, Always best to use on a Monday as it takes 2 working days for the port to go through.

When you give the code to your new provider, the number transfers the next working day, so your existing contact will cancel then. If you have say 20 days remaining on your contract and want to limit the time you pay for it for no usage, you may want to use it in 18-19 days time. If you want to end your contract asap then use it straight away.

It’s actually nigh on instantaneous from an inter-network point of view once the humans at either end make the required database changes.
