When changing text on desktop icons the picture gets removed.

This has been bugging me for a while and I thought I would see if anyone could help.

When I change the text on some of my desktop icons the picture gets deleted when I restart my computer. All I get is a white icon.

It always seems to happens with Malwarebytes, cpu-z and gpu-z.

All I want to do is change the text to something I like.

Is there a fix?

rebuild icon cache

You need to rebuild icon cache to fix this.

This works for Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8

Scroll down to option 1 and download Rebuild_Icon_Cache.bat

Download and run it and it will rebuild the icon cache and the icon picture should be back.

You can also go to properties on the shortcut, choose Change Icon and reselect the default icon. Sometimes this works for me.
