When do purchases get charged?

I'm pretty new to this iTunes thing and I'm just wondering how long it takes for Apple to charge your account when you've made an app purchase because I purchased a lot of apps earlier today and the funds haven't left my account. Just wondering if I've set something up wrong...

If you've got a credit/debit card setup you'll see the charges appear within 5 days.

iTunes won't let you purchases unless your payment method is valid.
 
Usually takes 3-5 days to be charged to your account.

I suspect Apple batch them up, otherwise the card processing charges on lots of 69p transactions would cost them a fortune!
