When do you think AMD will change the naming convention of their cpus

When you see an Q6600 what does that have share with the Intel chip? Crazy why can’t they just go back and call the chips Q2400 etc at least have the same name as the clock speed  Just to confuse the consumers even more!!

AMD are even worse naming there CPU's latley, I agree what does 9500+ suggest what chip it is

its just a model number, the 64's and xp's had numbers unofficialy based on relative P4 performance (becoming more meaningless with time and x2) but amd state that the opteron and phenoms are jsut models, there is no "+" shown anywhere sofar as i can see. its just "phenom 9900" just like "Q6600" - utterly meaningless :P

remember that the clockspeed no longer bears any relevance to performance when you look outside of one line. eg a 2.4ghz P4 northwood will be utterly trounced by a 2.4ghz Xp which will be trounced by a 2.4ghz athlon 64 which will in turn be lunched by a X2 @ 2.4 which is again slower thana K10 at 2.4 which is slower than a c2q @ 2.4.... thats why intel and amd have abandoned mhz, as the marketeers cant say "look, bigger is better" any more.
