When/How Do You Measure Your OC Temperatures?

Hi,

When testing out an overclock and monitoring temperatures what is the best method for measuring the CPU temperatures?

For example, I am using "RealTemp" and "HWMonitor", both of which give 4 individual core temperatures for an i7 2600k and these are also further split as "CurrentTemp", "MinTemp" and "MaxTemp". Which of these should I be using to asses the temperature for an overclock?

Lastly, do I let the PC "warm up" for 5 minutes to equilibrate before starting the OC test just so that it is in a steady state before beginning?

Idle - boot up, open up realtemp (personal preference) and give it 5 minutes, read current temp

Load - open up realtemp and give it prime/IBT or whatever you want and see what the max temp is at after a few tests of IBT or 30 mins of prime

Most people will state whether its those temps under prime/IBT as IBT will normally create more heat
