When i can eventually buy a card

someone will buy the rtx 3090 founders edition for £1700 cash that sort of shows the market we are in

Its nothing new I sold my Quest last June for £150 above what I bought it for. Also I would remove that retailer as you may get banned. Some people think this shortage is only recent but its been happening to the gaming industry since last Xmas 2020.

I wouldn't judge AMD's drivers on the 5700 XT, personally. My suspicion is that there are uncorrectable hardware errata with RDNA1 that cause it to be such a nightmare. I've never had as many problems in my life with a graphics card as I did with the 5700 XT. Just a constant stream of black screens, bugs, fan control problems and various other problems (a slew of emulators don't work properly with RDNA1, for example). I've owned plenty of other AMD cards and I have to think back more than a decade to find one that caused me any grief apart from the 5700 XT. I haven't seen any reports of RDNA2 being so flakey and broken either.

A year or so ago I had a few driver issues with my RX5700XT. For the past 6 months they seem to have sorted it - no problems at all for me. AMD aren't the only company to suffer from driver issues!

Actually what I thought were driver issues (for my AMD RX5700XT) turned out to be a faulty (giving black screens / reboots) gold 750w EVGA PSU that was only 2 to 3 yrs old with a 5 or 7 yr warranty!!!! (I bought a 850W gold corsair as a replacement whilst waiting for the 750W RMA).

Go buy a 3070FE or 3090FE, there are websites giving you alerts, these are the two easiest cards to buy IMHO when you look at the number of people posting after getting one.
