When I plug in a USB device to any USB port, my keyboard and mouse stop working?

Just switched everything over to a new case, all up and running fine apart from one thing.

When I plug a USB pen drive into any of the USB ports, either the ones on the motherboard or the front mounted ones which are wired to the motherboard from the case, my keyboard and mouse both stop working completely.

As soon as I remove the USB device from the port, the keyboard and mouse instantly begin working again.

Any ideas?.

Cheers in advance for any suggestions.

Yep, the USB flash drive works fine on my laptop.

I should have also mentioned that the mouse and keyboard are both plugged into the PS/2 ports on the motherboard, they are not a USB mouse and keyboard if that helps to shed any more light?

Very strange.

Just tried another USB drive in the PC and it does not exhibit the same problems. Mouse and keyboard work fine.

Plugged my first USB drive back in and also into the laptop and it freezes the mouse and keyboard again?.

Does that mean my USB drive, the one that is causing problems, is damaged in some way?
