When is a new 360 too loud?

To be fair it's a stupid thing to argue over anyway. Either you find the noise acceptable, or you don't.

And either side of that fence its still too loud for a home entertainment product.

Thats really the point, as alluded to in the title, rather than peoples tolerance to background noise.

I'm amazed at what people put up with regarding the 360 tbh - but that's for a different thread

I find my elite far too loud, when watching films from an external HDD it makes quite an intrusive noise, when playing games its makes a racket, its actually a relief when I turn it off.

exactly how i felt about my 360. hence selling it to buy a ps3 instead. purely because of the noise. best decision i ever made, i can barely hear the ps3 i dont like static noises like disc drives whirring, or fans going. they make my ears go funny. but yes, the 360 is too loud for a home entertainment product, especially playing games.

I find my laptop to be louder than my 360 half the time, once you get playing a game, and you are paying attention to the game, you dont even notice the noise, I only have my tv turned up about a quarter of the way, and can not even hear it over the game.

I'm not really imprest with the sound of my premium. Just before my warrantys up mine will be going back.
