Does anyone have any idea when its due out? I have driven the 130i a couple of times and it’s such a fantastic car. I assume that 306 bhp in a 3-door 1 series would absolutely fly and blow all its competition out of the water (S3 and R32)

cant say that i knew that one was in the pipeline tbh.
still has all the normal problems of a 1 series though, so just having a better engine still doesnt make it a wise choice of car imo.

don't you think that as the 130 is more expensive than the R32 already, and that by definition the 135 will be even more expensive again, that purely on a cost comparison alone the Golf won't be it's competition anymore?

Its due out later this year.

its going to be called the 135i rumours were it would be the M1 but BMW were against that idea due to the legendary 1970s M1.

Well, goes to show that you can't polish a turd.

How much is that monstrosity expected to retail at?

Along with the 130i, its for the american market apparently

But the british prices for the cheapest models with those engines I could find are:

130i SE 5d £24,797

330i SE 2d £31,675

335i SE 2d £33,810

So if it ever makes it here, at best that'd make it £27k?

Why would you want a 135i M Sport over a 335i M Sport unless you couldnt afford a 335i?

... maybe because the 3-series has grown into a bit of a cruise ship, and the 1-series should at least be reasonably light in comparison, and therefore a better driving experience. Of course if you just want to waft up and down the motorway then it makes little sense.

The 1 series is far from light, and is seriously ugly.

I know ...
Possibly the ugliest car ever  I can only assume that these days BMW are trying to put people off, but there are easier and cheaper ways of doing that (see Gerald Ratner)

Exactly. The 130i is already pushing 30k so a 135i will be 30k if not more. Total waste of money when you can get a 335i for not much more and the 3 Series is better than the 1 in nearly every single way.
