Hi,

I read before about some new technology boards and chips coming out this year that are quad channel memory instead of dual. Does any one have any info about this and is it worth hanging on to buy it when it comes out or just buy a Sandybridge set up now?? will it be silly expensive??

Thanks

PAul

Your probably looking much later this year or early part of next year which would be the replacement for the current i7 9xx range, whether its worth waiting for and cost for the memory is unknown really at the moment.

Whats your current specs?

Now that 4GB sticks are so cheap, 4 slots is really more than enough for non-server boards. 16GB in total. Easily enough for pretty much everything, realistically.

Personally I'll be going for a server board with at least 24GB next, but rendering is always ridiculously demanding on RAM.

Hi, I am looking at building a new set up because my old one is a q6600. I have already purchased case, Psu, 2 x hard drives , Optical drive. I am thinking about the I7 960 on an Asus motherboard. I just dont want to invest money in this set up then find out that a month later a new much faster system comes out and then i kick myself. To be honest i started the biuld this year in February but then there were all these problems with the new boards so i stopped biulding.
