When is the next wave of GPU'S? AMD & NV

^^ Theres very little hard information.

AMD seem to be content to flesh out the 7000 series a bit more for the immediate future with the 8000 series proper likely pushed back to much later in the year or even early next year (I had heard they were likely holding off for 20nm with it but the same source said the (proper) 7990 was likely to be a monster single core which seems to be incorrect).

nVidia are releasing _something_ around the middle of the year, likely a 2nd SKU for Titan but also some rumours that nVidia will be showing off a 700 series card late may/june at tech shows with release early in the 2nd half of the year (seems to be some confusion as to whats actually happening but seems fairly certain _something_ is being released around then).

20nm cards, the "true" next-gen cards that will offer a serious bump in performance, are likely to appear mid to late 2014.

Going by historical trends we would expect to see a 28nm refresh around the middle of this year, but all has been surprisingly quiet on that front. Roff already summed up the situation as best we know it - AMD have been very quiet, with rumours of a Nvidia 28nm refresh some time around Q3. There really isn't very much information around though, which is quite unusual considering that it's been over a year since the last major refresh from each side.

My personal feeling is that we will see 28nm refresh cards from both Nvidia and AMD around September-November this year, which will offer perhaps 15-30% bump in performance.

Very murky situation, looks like a good old wait and see over the summer, and trying to stave off 7970 itchy finger.

:)

Whats going on here, ive been reading a few graphics cards threads, and gregster seems to be getting picked on. Could someone sum it up in a sentence.

I dont think Greg deserves that at all guys.

Many people are asking the same kind of stuff and most answers are only speculative in any case.

The fact is all the GPU manufacturers are trying to extend the life of products much longer than previously. Dont expect much from either AMD or NVIDIA soon!!!

Yea...I think Greg risked his hinds against the wraith of his missus getting those cards (if I didn't remember it wrong...), so he certainly deserve some respect :D

As much as I hate seeing the Titan cards flying off the shelf at that kind of ridiculous pricing, rather than holding a grudge against Titan owners, I'd rather start a riot toward the two GPU makers for holding back the release of the next gen cards (or any solid news about them)

Gregg keeps getting stick because he bought Titans, it's his choice, his money, needs all the power he can get for his needs, but more than anything else, shouldn't have to explain to anyone why or how he bought them in the first place.:)

October would be my earliest guestimation outside baby Titan/7990.

Personally I think the high end market is static/shrinking for the need of anything much faster until the next gen consoles appear on the shelves.

gregster spends a lot of time posting information for the forum and helping out others (e.g. the cubic assload of Titan benchmarks he's given us). He generally posts in a pleasant and friendly style. He isn't arrogant, isn't condescending, and doesn't post partisan rubbish. What's not to like?!

Keep on trucking gregster... :)

Strange how someone who gives so much time to this forum gets jumped all over

What makes it worse, some of those who made the snide comments have received help from Greg :(

I'm all for a bit of baiting/banter, but it shouldn't ever become personal
