Is it better to post here or in the Apple section? With such a huge selection of games many starting 69p and games graphically that can look as basic as the Nes but other times graphics making the PSP and 3DS look dated. It seems very odd that I never see IOS games here.

Just look at this Avalon HD an action RPG the PSP or 3DS that comes close too it and it only cost me £2.99. Heres a screenshot I took.

I've been playing it on my iPod Touch 4g and I think it looks pretty amazing, the gameplay is addictive too and it didn't cost a fortune. I'll admit there is plenty of rubbish games too just like any games console but at so many costing less than a £1 there's nothing to lose.

doesn't look too great on that image but on the 3.5" high res screen it admittedly looks great. a lot of the games do. if rage HD is still free then i fully recommend it.

Theme park HD (will be free to play with in game adverts i think) is incoming 'soon' .. more and more developers are taking IOS seriously, and with the power of the iPad 2 we should start to see more quality games coming from the major publishers.

Depends, I can't consider the iPod as a gaming device because I hate the responsivness of the touch screen, It's ok for small gaming stints but otherwise it doesn't appeal to me.

That and I would never buy an Apple product because I am too cool :D.

Looks like the Apple users have been pushed out of the mobiles sub forum by the Android users. :p

Also I would have changed the thread title to "mobile device" as currently Ios is having rings run around it by other devices.

is it ? just because theres 20 different low budget android handsets being forced onto people through bargain contracts doesn't mean its better

wheres the killer android games ? in fact where are the good android games altogether ? the only ones i bought are the ones my mates had on the iPhone years ago .

I dont get it the controls suck on all the games I have tried get a x's or psp for mobile gaming!
+1

I tried Doom and Street Fighter on a friends iPhone a while back. Was like playing a console while wearing boxing gloves.

For Angry Birds and basic games it's fine, but anything more involved or with fine movements required, no thanks.

and before you say "but that's a tablet" my S2 will happily run the majority of games in that video.

Funny how I have all those games on my iPhone 4...

Were they not all originally iOS games too?

And Andy's point still stands;

I think gaming on mobile devices is the way forward these days. It obviously wasn't the right time when Nokia tried with the N-Gage, but things are very different now.

I own a PSP and a Nintendo DS, but it's hassle to carry them, I never buy games for them, I barely ever use them.
An iPhone or iPad is a lot easier and has numerous other uses that makes having them that much more practical.

The fact that games are significantly cheaper and you don't need to carry game media around is also a major plus.

I think Nintendo is really going to start to feel the pinch given how important the handheld market has always been for them. You only have to look to see how quickly they reduced the price of the 3DS, as it clearly wasn't selling at the price point they brought it in at.

Let's cut to the chase

Android and Iphone have drawbacks and more so for an Iphone user

The bottom line is that an Android user can use any handset and still have the apps purchased from the store on that handset (to a degree, I'm talking processor here) where as if you are an Iphone user after you make that first purchase from the app store you are locked to the Ios and the only narrow way forward is with apple, which then also means that you are stuck with whatever they offer next.

Which brings me to my next point

I have had an Iphone from the start and lost interest in the Ios as at this moment I feel that it is very dated, I will say that 3 years ago there was nothing that could touch it but now apple are feeling the pressure and instead of innovating (which when they do, damn they do it well) they have just decided to sue anything that looks like a mobile manufacturer/tablet manufacturer.

Ios5 just doesn't interest me in the slightest as all Apple seem to be doing is adding Android features to the OS. Whilst still maintaining that quite frankly yawn inducing OS.

Oh and they have added an FM radio :p

There are countless great Android games that look and play far better than anything on the iPhone, for example:

Reckless Getaway
Trial Extreme
Dungeon Defenders
Riptide GP
Sprinkle
Samurai 2 : Vengeance
Galaxy on Fire 2
Pinball HD
Apparatus
The entire Gameloft HD collection
Air Attack HD
Deathworm

The list goes on and on, just because you don't know about them, doesn't mean they don't exist.

I have an iPad 2 and I hate it for games. The games are great' graphics are brilliant but the touchscreen format doesn't work for serious gaming. Having to look instead of feeling where buttons are destroys the experience for me.

LOL most of them came out on IOS first :S the ipad 2 is also just more powerful than any android platform atm, it's gpu and cpu are way more powerful than the tegra 2 in the xoom.

So if you bought an app on the Android Store can i use it on my iPhone? No.

Same goes with any platform. You buy for one platform and that's all you can use it on. I can install my apps on any new iPhone i get and any iPod touch the Mrs. gets without having to purchase again.

To me this is a total non issue. I'm not going away from the iOS platform. It works seamlessly with my computer infrastructure so why would i change?

Which brings me to my next point

I have had an Iphone from the start and lost interest in the Ios as at this moment I feel that it is very dated, I will say that 3 years ago there was nothing that could touch it but now apple are feeling the pressure and instead of innovating (which when they do, damn they do it well) they have just decided to sue anything that looks like a mobile manufacturer/tablet manufacturer.

It does everything i want it to do and more. I'm not sure what you're getting at with calling an OS yawn inducing? What more do you want it to do. It works, can make phone calls, can view emails, can surf the internet, can listen to music, can play games, have thousands of apps at your disposal to do any number of other things. I just have no idea what more you want it to do? If you're giving out comments like that then at least give reasons why?

The OS is the most intuitive phone OS or any OS on anything that i've ever seen. Why ruin this with stupid bells and whistles. You give the device to anyone and they know exactly how to use it. So much so that my Mother who has never had any interest in phones whatsoever can't get enough of them.

lol, as mentioned most of them started as IOS games.

This thread is becoming as immature as an Xbox vs PS3 thread. They are both good platforms in their own way and why would developers not make games for both to reach as much of the market as possible.
