When new iPhones are released for pre order ?

No, you can’t get to handle one before launch day as all the demo units in the Apple Stores are production units and the stores get them with the first stock shipments and even store staff don’t get to see them before release.

No, they won't have them in stores for you to touch and handle until the day they're officially released and available to the general public.

Incorrect. You won't be able to go into an Apple Store on the 8th September and expect to see one.

If they say "Order on the 9th, delivery from the 16th", the first date you'll see one in an Apple store is the 16th.

All the rumours were 7th for announcement, 9th for pre-order, 16th release so expect that timeline. We'll only know for sure after the announcement event though.

Thanks so at least i know i wont see one in the flesh till after the delivery date
 
thanks everyone i only wanted to hold one in my hand to see how it compares to my 12, suppose i can always check the specs and compare it to the 13 pro and max and then go in and look at that model to see if the size in the hand is okay

Last year the 13 was announced Tuesday, pre-order Friday the same week, then release the week after. Rumours for this year suggest it'll be the same (though announced Wednesday).

Most of the leaks suggest almost identical size as the 13s, maybe slightly deeper, and slightly bigger camera bump to accommodate the new 48MP camera, but otherwise should give you a very, very close idea.

Depends what you're coming from. Incrementally even 13 Pro > 14 Pro may not yield that much outside of the design change and better camera and usual slightly incremental performance boost, but if you're coming from a few generations back, both the 14 and 14 Pro will offer a good upgrade.
