When parked up do you leave your car in gear?

Perhaps we can have a poll on this.

I'm old school and I was always taught to put the handbrake on and to put the car into 1st gear because handbrakes can easily stop working.
This annoys the hell out of my daughters when I have to move their cars.
So, I will always continue to put my car into 1st gear when parked but what do you do?

I have disks at the back, so anything more than a slight slope and I engage 2nd gear. The gear I was taught to use to hold a car.

Teach your daughters to check that its not in gear before starting the car. This is the first thing I was taught when learning to drive.

Then it makes no issue.

Personally, I dont, unless its on a hill.

First thing I do when driving my own car is move the gear stick left to right to check it isn't in gear.

On hills and after a spirited drive on my driveway as its slightly sloped and got discs at the back. Usually 2nd or reverse, wheels turned to the curb on a hill.

I always leave mine in gear when parked. I was taught to do so. Obviously its in reverse if parked facing downhill.

Neutural and Handbrake usually. Though I don't have any hills within an hour driving anywhere around me. All flat polders here.

What's this rubbish about using reverse if parked the other way on a hill?

The compression stroke is too short on the ground in 1st and reverse, 2nd gear is best.
