Ram is very cheap at the moment, and has been for the last few months. One of our suppliers said it was going up in the coming weeks, but haven't seen it yet.

Now is as good time as any :)

i assume its going up due to ddr3 coming out and making ddr2 less easy to get!

DDR3 is still very new, so I would think it will be sometime until production shifts that way significantly, but yes it will go up eventually (at a guess, next year).

will it be wiser me getting just 1 more gig, rather than 2, will i notice the difference between 2 and 3?
Not so sure, you might wanna just buy 2 more gigs because it works out cheaper to buy two sticks instead of one stick now and one stick later.

The best time would likely be ASAP as the prices can only go higher than current levels.

Yer just ordered and wanted delivery on Tuesday, so hopefully should get it then, when im in :D then i can finally max bf2 with out the stuttering :)

If you already have 1Gb/2Gb you would be better off having a second hard disk.

On the second disk store all ancillary stuff such as temp files, caches, cookies, log files etc.

The bonus is that you can use that drive to keep disk images and thus restore quickly in the event of main disk failure or corruption.

Ram has a weird performance plateau where too little = extreme low performance, decent amount = great performance, too much = little gain above great performance.

Above 1Gb consider your disks as the most important as this is a slow, outdated mechanical device which is now the only bottleneck in a PC.
