When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

Is there an MSRP of this generations cards anywhere, in GBP? I'm curious how bad the gouging is still as I know prices have come down greatly in the last three months. For example what's a 6700 XT MSRP? Currently the cheapest is ~£550, but at 2-3 steps from the top of the range, isn't it a £400-£450 card max?

I appreciate the fact that overall price increases this generation are unavoidable due to inflation and other factors, so I might be out of touch with what's a realistic MSRP now.

As i understand it:

6600XT msrp £379
6700XT msrp £419
6800 msrp £529

3060ti msrp £369
3070 msrp £469
3070ti msrp £549
3080 msrp £649

I'm not interested in the higher end stuff, so i havent bothered to look into it. Still a way off those in most cases.

These are the cards the main stream are waiting to drop in price. This is where the vast majority of gamers lie.

When you see the Steam statistics it's clear that the low to mid end cards are by far the place gamers are.

So when you see a few quid off a 3090 or the likes it's still not going to be bought by the majority.

I don't understand how anyone can think the price will drop drastically on the 3000 series. Just look at the members markets. 1080ti still requesting £300 when the MSRP for a 3060ti is £369

I can't wait to get access to the members market. I've advertised on gumtree and it's awful for pc parts.

Is it still 1000 posts? Any other criteria to hit??

RTX 4000 is coming, these price wont drop until after launch. But if anything, they wont drop as scalpers will buy up the entire launch stock to resell anyway.

Cannot remember the threshold but it's a buyers game. If you try and sell anything be prepared for similar ****take offers that you get on gumtree and fb market place. Also requests for stuff to be sent on the slowest mail delivery despite the fact it saves you about 80p in postage.

Ah that all sounds familiar lol.

Never understood people trying to save on postage. I tend to send stuff special delivery for my own peace of mind. If I was buying I'd also prefer for something to be sent via special delivery.

Unfortunately I'm not even getting the silly offers on gumtree. It just seems to me that it's not really aimed for people buying pc parts.

I won’t be buying any of the current gen cards let alone the next gen cards until they reach msrp which they are most certainly heading toward now.

there are indeed some daft prices on the members market from people desperate to recoup as much as they can having spent a stupid amount of money on the card in the first place. Perfectly understandable of course but I’m happy to wait it out.

sadly many can’t of course. £300 for a 1080ti as someone said above should make you sit up and think.

If you can wait until next gen now that is the way to go, especially for midrange AMD cards. The 6600 and 6600xt performance and price aren't that far from the 5700 & 5700xt whilst hopefully next gen will see a better increase in price & performance.
The 3060ti is much better in price to performance at MRSP but hopefully the 4060ti will be even better. The main reason to get a 6000/6600xt is if you haven't got a working card now

Mining doesnt really impact a gpu as much as most people think - many tubers have sjown this (take a gtx 1060 mined for 3 years solid and it has the same performance as it had on day 1)

Except the ones that broke due to mining. Having first hand experienced this i remain highly sceptical of the claim being full proof. As with most second hand electronics, very difficult to know if it's going to go poof.

Its actually worse than that considering cards like the 3080 came out in what sept/oct 2020 and only really the Founders Editions got the MSRP all the AIBs charged more like £700+ and those that didn't EoL'd the cheaper cards not because they couldn't make them but because they refused to sell them... How this didn't break EU and UK consumer and or competition laws is a mystery frankly

Agree. What really happened was realistically the 3080 AIB were around a grand and early on the bots/scalpers hoovered up all the 3080's (FE) so you had very little choice if you didn't want to pay inflated for it. It took months for the one reseller to limit one per account.

From my prespective, GPU prices went down 'today' because its the first time I have checked prices and stock in months.

OCUK are selling in stock AIB 3080s for 769inc upwards, so, its money for old Nvidia rope but at least you can buy one now without the price being scalped too hard.

A 6900XT aib is 999inc which, based on what the market has been through seems not too shabby lol

Perfectly understandable

Is it? A GPU isn't an investment; it's a high tech toy that rapidly becomes obsolete. Seems crackers to me that people who buy them at a time of high prices have any belief they'll ever recoup that. Nobody thinks they'll get 80% back when they sell their car...

Which isn't to say don't do it. If you have the cash spare, and don't want to wait - buy the GPU. There's absolutely an argument for paying more today vs paying less in a year - namely you had the fun thing a year earlier! Just don't be disappointed when computer components turn out to age badly because they always have done :D
