When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

Looking at current pricing on OCUK hopefully the competitive price of 6600 affects 3060 sales and they have to drop those further.. in an ideal world this would have a cascading effect on the GPU's higher in the stack and happen by the end of the month :D

Perhaps though now that the price of the 6700xt has gone down today more people might buy it for the vram, but it does have less grunt than the 3070 in most games despite having more vram, https://youtu.be/f0yo2Sc-DyI?t=601

The 3070 comes out stronger. Shame AMD messed up on the pricing of it, however you could argue it may compare more to the 3060Ti but who cares? If you do watch HU, you will find that card can run FC6 @4k with the texture pack whereas the 3070 cant.

If you are buying a 3070/6700XT for 4k gaming then you have already comprimised, i.e your dropping settings to hit 60fps in most AAA titles. The fact that extra VRAM enables you to have higher fidelity in a couple of those titles is really beside the point isn't it ?

Agree. These reviewers though always bench across their resolutions even though barely anyone will use these cards for 4k for example. It really is an edge case that proves a weak GPU with ample vram can run a game that stronger cards could not. So why not acknowledge that there is a certain amount of vram needed for certain tiers/resolutions.. its not like you or a.n.other has lost an argument, you are just considering that the point is valid. HU even ran it at 1440p I recall and it struggled at that res with said texture pack?

I most certailnly acknowledge that different tiers requre different levels of VRAM. There was no difference at 1440p with HD texture pack. Personally have not seen any cases where 8gb is an issue at 1440p.. but I would like 10-12gb at that res to ensure a bit of wiggle room.

I think that as the 4070 will be more capable at 4k than the 3070, Nvidia will give the 4070 12Gb of vram and also to compete with AMD directly on vram in that tier

That's the key thing for me. The extra VRAM on the 6700XT makes it a better proposition for longevity. As game requirements increase in the future, the 3070 looks likely to get left behind much quicker than the 6700XT making the latter a much better value proposition, at the right price that is.

Depends what happens with RTX I guess, if that takes off the 3070 could be doing OK for itself.

I've just replaced a 8GB 3070 with a 11GB 1080ti, let's see how that increased VRAM works out for me, my guess is the extra VRAM won't be much help other than being able to run higher textures, I expect the 1080ti will run out of grunt before 8GB becomes a bottleneck.

I'm still waiting for this huge glut of bargain cards flooding the market as miners offload that was predicted, prices have fallen for sure but still a long way from bargain territory.

No glut yet. But the 2nd hand price of a 1080ti has dropped from £400 to £300 in the space of 2 months. It will probably be £200 in two more months.

Not only that but I've seen people repeatedly say that stock won't be an issue.

So not only are there going to be thousands of new gen cards just sat their at RRP but there's going to be 3090's on classifieds for 300 quid and likely 3070's for 50 quid

so im guessing you woke up at that point;):D

I've got my 300 ready to buy another gpu :D

In all seriousness I hope prices remain high so I can make more money back when it comes to selling. Even if the market was flooded with used cards from miners, I'm not convinced stock is going to be readily available of new cards which will effect pricing of used cards.

I'm not going to risk selling up until I have a replacement ready.

why not? worked super well for those selling up in the mining craze just as the new cards launched :D
