When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

I keep waiting for the price to reduce a bit more. My 980ti died 6 weeks ago and my gaming rig has sat idle, I've waited this long should I buy now or wait for a price drop that doesn't seem to be coming?

I think they're gonna try hold the price tbh, they've made enough profit over the past year to accept a lul in order to justifyy keeping next gen prices on the up. Hate it, but seeing the prices level out last month makes me skeptical. Second hand market could make the difference but even there the buy it now prices on used cards is silly. Feels like everyone is holding out.

I’ve just invested in a Quest 2 for my racing rig and my next step is to upgrade the GPU. I was happy to continue until my 1080 pretty much gave up the ghost as it was driving my Alienware UW no problem. Given the state of the market for the past couple of years I haven’t even dipped my toe in let alone considered an upgrade. However having now decided VR is the way I want to go it seems that upgrade will have to happen after all. Given my last foray into the GPU market was buying said 1080 when it was released it’s fair to say I’ve been out of the game for a looong while. However, from what research I’ve done the Inno3d 3070 that I’ve just stumbled across appears to be decent value at £529, or am I very much mistaken?
Assuming the MSRP of the FE is £469 I’d assume third party cards won’t go much lower than this?

People were spending into the nines I think for that type of card at the peak so its not as bad now, however as its so close to the next gen the 4070 will be near to that price if it doesn't get out of hand but could be much faster. I suppose December is a long way out so depends on how desperate you are really.

Well what a day its been, talking to my parents this morning and the conversation turned to computers as my father needs to upgrade his pc (I built it for him 12years ago). They asked if I had gotten a gpu yet and I explained why I hadn't, so as it was my 50 th birthday recently they offered £1000 towards what I wanted. So I ordered an Asus tuf 3080 ti oc. So in effect it has only cost me 260 quid, and thinking about it I could have waited but is a 3080 ti suddenly going to be crap and obsolete In 6months? It also now allows me to upgrade the rest of my system later in the year.

£529 is a pretty good price to be fair.

Nice grab, it's definitely not going obsolete. Even if RT performance is going to suffer vs next gen.

I similarly got my 3080 Ti FE for about £350 after the taking my old card to the trade in place. Then work covered that £350 :D
Very happy with what is essentially a free card.

I think the next gen card MSRP will be a lot more than the current gen, the miners are not selling and the hash rate is still very high, they will buy the new gen card to improve their mining power

People really don't understand mining and its an easy scapegoat I guess. Yes there are some large outfits but they are few and far between - at least in countries like the UK that never had cheap electric rates in the first place.

It doesn't take much to scale into a proper miner in the good times, the thing is the tax system might be ok for a guy with a couple to stay under your allowance, but lets say you had a shed with like 20 cards your opening yourself up to some potential pain without planning it out properly.

Whilst cheaper than they have been, £900 for a used GPU with limited warranty that is about to be replaced seems like madness to me. Shows what's happened to the market in the last few years. I'm still expecting a large correction.

Comes with 2 year warranty from CEX. Like everything you buy from them.

I'm impressed, that's as good as some of the manufacturers. What are they like when you actually have to claim on it? Replacement or current market value? In 2 years time that 3090 could be worth very little.

They refund what you paid if they can't replace/repair it not what the new price maybe then.
