When to build??

Hello all,been reading these forums for a few weeks now and have a few questions to ask my learned friends ;)

I have 2 requirements ,to upgrade my Athlon 2800 xp /9800pro pc to a duel core setup with a decent gfx card,(just how big a jump is this?).I have an approx. budget of £900 .
I also want to go to a 20" WS TFT,must be spot on for gaming and the usual surfing etc.(budget is £200-£300 for tft alone)

My question is WHEN to build.I see that dx10 gfx cards have hit town and look to be pretty close to double the performance of dx9 cards and also Vista is on the horizon.So with my budget would you build now or wait till these new things arrive/settle down?

There's always something better due out in the near future so you're really the only person who can decide when it's the right time. A good reason for waiting until the New Year could be the general belief here that RAM prices will drop then. Apart from that something like an E6400, 965P-DS4, 2GB DDR2/800, a SATA II HDD or two and a reasonable graphics card should be well within your budget.

So do you see a dx10 card and vista with say a e6400 being anywhere near my budget in the new year?

If not could anyone reccomend as a good a spec as possible for in and around the £900 mark.Also any ideas on the monitor?
