When do u think its gonna be the best time? Before or after christmas? I will have a budget of £700 hopefully (maybe more), and I wont need a Screen as I'm getting 1 from my parents. I know it's impossible to give me exact details but what kind of PC do you think ill be able to buy at that time?

Yes it is far away, but I want to get the best machine available for the budget ill have.

After. IIRC some new graphics cards etc. are coming out later this year. Current hardware will also be cheaper/there'll be better out for the same price.

thanks for the quick reply, and do you think it would be better to go with an older GPU or the latest, but having less ram in it?

I want to get antec nine hundred gaming or antec P182 as a case, do you think those are good cases?

Edit - I was thinking of going for BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) as a GPU but will this be in my price range by then?

Depends if you're into your gaming or not really. If you are then go for something like the 8800GTX 768MB. If you're a casual gamer or don't need/want to spend that much on a graphic card then maybe a 8800GTS 320MB or even a 8600.

I personally have the Lian-li PC-7, it's a very nice case. The Antec 900 is apparently quite tacky and noisy?

Craig.

There is rarely a best time to buy, unless there is some huge event imminent. Items will be cheaper if you wait, and better performing hardware at the same price range will be avalible as well.

Considering that the 8800gtx is £299, I would say it is already in your price range, considering that cpus are stupidly cheap this year.

Well I currently playing AOEIII on my laptop and I'd like to play Bioshock in the future and MMO's + whatever else there is. But if I have the money ill probably get the 768MB because I want to make it as much future proof as possible.

I thought the Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case was pretty good myself, but the good thing is that it has loads of space for more hard drives. But if it's noisy then Ill go with P182 or the one you have.

Yeah I think it will be in my price range by then, but I only have £350 right now, but if i had that money right now id probably buy things right now as my laptop is auful at running games.

at the end of the year :

Quad core cpu - Q6600 most likely.
P35 or a newer P38 based motherboard
8800GTX, or depending on the cost of the new cards, a 9800GTX
4 GB RAM
Vista 64 bit

that there will already blow your budget.

The Antec isnt noisy but the P182 is a very nice case.

With £700 i would wait for the 9800 series to come out hopefull resulting in the 8800 series dropping a few quid in price.

Then just buy a P35 based system.

Thanks for all yours comment so far.

This what I thought I could get in 4 months time for around £700 without the Monitor.

You could already get that for closer to £1350 probably if you looked around. But unless you change parts you wont get it for £700 at christmas. Perhaps £1000.

For motherboards id suggest the abit Ip35 Pro. For ram get the crucial balistics pc 5300 and overclock it to anywhere up to 1000mhz. 4gb of it can be had for £130 quid.

Id expect the G80 GTX to be closer to £250 after the G90s come out.

Also you said that your parents where getting you the monitor?

Yeah I did say that my parents will be buying me a Monitor, Dell 2407WFP is the one I would like or whatever thats in the same price range. So I take it that is included in the £1000 you said it would be about christmas time.

I'm not sure about Motherboard and Ram because I just picked the ones that I saw on someone else's build.

Just seen a review on that Sonata III case. Looks good and has a PSU included so that will save money for something else.

Thank you all for your reply's so far, because without you id probably buy something completely Bogus.
