When to declare penalty points to the insurer?

The missus received 3 points for speeding :rolleyes:

We're both named drivers on the insurance policy. When does she need to declare the points to the insurer?

a) On insurance renewal some 11 months from now?
b) On existing insurance as soon points have been applied to her license?
c) Other - please state.

I searched the internet - and got mixed messages. I'd rather ask the experienced convicts in this forum

Generally speaking - is there a trend. Generally do insurers follow a, b or c in the opening post?

Fairly certain your policy will say B.

Given how long your policy has left to run then I would declare them now - it's a long time to go in which something could happen, not declaring them and being involved in an accident *might* cause problems.

Anytime in the past I've waited until renewal and just prayed I have no accidents inbetween the two dates

Actually many do not require notification until renewal. This is why the only answer to this question is in your policy documents.

Current insurer don't care about missus' points after we've taken out the cover.
