Hey all,

So all my new parts are arriving today from OCUK and I have a few questions about my virgin build!
First a quick rundown on my spec:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
LG L226WTQ 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 640MB GDDR3
Samsung SpinPoint T HD501LJ 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
NZXT Zero Crafted Series Aluminium Full Tower
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 7.1 Soundcard
Home Premium 64-Bit Edition
Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) Heatsink
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2

Does anyone know if I will have to remove the top fan from my case to fit in the PSU as I heard a few people have had problems?

What is the best way to discharge static electricity? I have a feeling I produce a lot as I keep blowing lights and ive gone through a hell of a lot of phones, also what is the most sensitive component.

Could someone recommend a set of speakers for my system, it will mainly be used for gaming and DVDS (hopefully HD DVDs once the price of the drives comes down a little) Is THX certification a big bonus or is it just a badge u pay for regardless of the sound quality?

Unsure to go with a really good 2.1 system or a midrange 5.1 or 7.1 system?
Any ideas?

Finally, overclocking, Should I wait to overclock until I see a need to with my system or am I better to do it straight away. Also which is the first and easiest component to overclock?

Appreciate any help the informed users of this site could give.

Get yourself a earthing strap.
Get the system built and sort the airflow out before you do any overclocking.
As for Speakers i would go fo a set of 5.1 over 2.1 anyday.

I would go for headphones over 5.1 anyday, good ones.

If you mount/plug in the PSU as a first then then keep touching the metal on the back of the case everytime you move ( within reason ) then you shouldn't fry anything. No Nylon/other static building clothing is recommended whilst building.

Cheers for the replies guys but i couldnt watch DVDs with head phone so regarding the speakers has anyone a resonably priced set that work well with my sound card?

You can, but I know what you are saying.

I have THESE speakers. I don't use them much but they are very good, high sound quality and the sub woofer can nock over lines of lego men like dominoes ( tried and tested ).

Hey all,

Cheers for the responces, Jaffa just like to thank you again, parts all arrived at lunch time, fantastic service from OCUK, Ordered 5.30 Monday, Arrived to my house 1pm Thursday all the way accross the pond! Happy days!

THX Ultra is resassurance of well output levels under % THD in a x sized room, also processor has some features that are part of the THX spec. However for PC gear really lowered the bar. Depends what you mean "quality"

At least in the past if you bought a THX poweramp you'll know it has passed certain tests, you won't get a amp that clips into 8Ohm, 10W passing for example.
