Dilemma have a AMD claw hammer in a silver cool master centurion case. Bought 3-4 years ago and done great service. Looking to upgrade to another OC built top spec PC.
When are OC going to use the new processor 8400 or 8200 in the pre built PC’c
That is really something you'd have to ask the shop directly as relatively few of the Dons actually work for the shop, if you drop OcUK a webnote or ring them up then they should be able to tell you.
Or you could try building yourself, it is pretty easy to do and shouldn't take you that much time either.
dude i built one last week it was my first build it was a breeze just make sure you do your research plus if you get problems people on this forum are happy to help
The guys are right, self-building is the long-term way to go. Just do your research plus the guys are here to give you advice should you need it
But if you ultimately haven't got the confidence yet then we're here to build it for you
In answer to the e8200/e8400 question, they're VERY tight at the moment that's why we haven't given it as an option in the builds. But if you really really want one sorting we can def do that for you, just give the Sales line a call & ask for what you want.
Thanks for the responce. Just trying to find the right time to upgrade. If you like the value point as the technology unfolds. May be too early for the 8200/8400. Whats the view?????
Probably the best time for the E8400 was a couple of weeks ago as it was very competitively priced against the older Core2Duos but now it seems like paucity of supply has led to increased prices which makes it less appealing unless you will definitely be overclocking and trying for 4ghz+.
Start with an e2180. They are great chips for clocking and will be a good start on getting best value for money from self builds. If that is too slow for you then the Q6600 could be the way to go.
Thanks want a fast PC. Have looked at the Q6600 but think its dated want to use the 8400 but perhaps need to wait till price drops down again. Any thoughts when that will be?
Building a computer is like a Grown Ups LEGO. It's so fun, and makes you (me) feel like I'm intelligent, when all I'm doing is pushing things in to where they fit.
Now overclocking may be a bit different. But by the way these people on the forum sound, it's not too dissimilar to tying ones shoelaces.
DISCLAIMER to all Overclockers: The views expressed in this post are completely unfounded and are intended for what little witty content they may hold.
Should perhaps have asked earlier but what do you intend to use the PC for mainly? I tend not to upgrade my PC all that often and usually go for a full PC so a Q6600 would almost certainly be my choice but how you use your PC will make a difference here.
Tend to use it for business mainly excel and access dbase work, bit word processing and some video editing. Dont tend to renew for 3-4 year so like to get almost top spec at that time. Anyone any thoughts?
