When was ED introduced?

Hi All,

I was just wondering if one of you knowledgeable BMW chaps could tell me when the efficient dynamics stuff hit each model in the range?

Also, am I right in thinking that it was applied to both diesel and petrol models but stop/start was left out of auto models?

Finally, what did ed actually give the cars? ie regenerative braking etc?

2007 mostly.

There is all sorts of ED - from random stuff that probably makes no difference such as low friction fluids to quite fundamental things like electric power steering, regenerative braking, stop-start on manual 4 cylinder models, auto closing/opening vents on the grilles of non M-Sport models, etc.

they close up when cold to help the engine warm up quicker. then open once warm to help with cooling.

It was actually used on the E60 from 2003 but they added it to the rest of the range when the rolled out ED on those cars.
