surely if we had lunar months it wouldn't actually make any difference to anything except tides and what the moon looks like at certain times of the week - i.e. full moon would always be in the middle of the month.

With a Solar calendar we always have summer, plant crops, go skiing at the same time of each year - which makes more sense to me anyway.
