When will console FPS compare to PCs'?

It worked well on horseback too, without Z-targetting.

In all fairness that's still a lot slower and easier than the aiming needed in most fps. You're not even controlling the horse so things are still pretty static.

I've played on Red Steel a lot of hours this week and the controls are pretty damn good, personally I think better than a controller although still a bit off K+M.

I only gave it 3 hours, but really couldn't find any incentive to carry on. I'm a huge fps fan, both with m&k and pad, but couldn't get the hang of the movement. A fixed aim would have been more suited to Red Steel imo - the actual aiming was ok, it's the turning and tracking of targets that go out of you fov that sucks.

I played Far Cry on the 360 for the first time yesterday which I originally avoided it due to feeling the graphics and controls wouldn't compare to the PC version.

Well, I was wrong. Ok, its not as good, but it's great in it's own right. I found it quite intuitive and easy to play. Obviously you don't have the reaction time of using a mouse which is the main issue I suppose, and going from PC your hards are closer together on a pag, mainking it feel a little hamfisted.

The thing with Far Cry, after getting over the ergonomics, was the comfort and the speed of using the controls. You're not resting your elbows on a hard table when sat at the sofa, which made the game more friendly and less exhuasting to play. It actually reminded me of Goldeneye while owning my good friend over and over and cackling like a witch.

Typically, I use my PC for fps only games. I grew up playing doom so the PC is an FPS machine. Most people these days seem to game on Console more than PC if they have both. Or play certain games on each.

There's no real happy medium, but unless they ship a console or certain game with a kb/mouse, it aint gonna be supported online for obvious reasons.

In fairness to you, you're 100% right. I had the same issues, spent a good few hours with the remote pointed dead at the screen and strafed my target into view. But once you get used to the fact that you can run in a direction, and turn, point and shoot at the same time (much like you can in real life), it really does enter a new era. But I DO agree, the first few hours you just think it doesn't and will not ever work. Took me a good day to finally get the hang of things, and enjoying it so much I'm now going through Red Steel again on the hardest setting and loving it even more.
