My Custom build is over a year old now and still going strong. I'm just wondering when ppl think I should start upgrading or will need to?
I'm managing to play games like Crysis 2 and Bad Company 2 on nearly full high settings at full res on my Dell 30" monitor.

My Setup is:

Motherboard = Asus P5Q E
Cpu = Intel Q9550 running 4ghz
Ram = 8gb oc Rampage running at 998mhz
Gpu = 2x Asus 5850 Crossfire 980/4100
Hdd = 500gb Raptor I think.
Psu = 850w

I know some things in my current build are old but it seems to still be doing well.

I personally don't think you need to change anything, part from the sake of changing.

Only thing perhaps is a SSD.

As long as your PC fits your own needs, don't upgrade. It's always a far better value for money prospect to wait as long as possible to upgrade.

Your CPU's getting a little long in the tooth, but at 4GHz, a C2Q will last you another few years yet.

What make/model is your PSU? I always get concerned when people don't mention it.

So your basicly saying for my needs which is fps gaming I wouldn't notice much difference upgrading at the moment? Battlefield 3 will probably be my next big game to play so hope this rig handles that!

I can overclock my cpu to 4.2ghz but have never really needed to yet so keep it at 4ghz which is rock solid and low temps. Whats C2Q?

My PSU is a Coolermaster 850W RealPower Modular PSU. I didn't right the name as I brought it quite a long time ago so had forgotten the name.

You should be fine for a while i would say. Like hybrid and others said if it fits your needs for now don't worry about upgrading. If you do want to upgrade though wait until something new comes out and get what used to be the best for cheaper. That's my philosophy anyway :P

Exactly :D It'll be fine on BF3, RTSes on Ultra CPU and mega-detailed MMOs like Rift are the only real drains on CPU power. FPSes really hit the GPU hard, and dual 5850s should be plenty unless you must max AA.

C2Q = Core 2 Quad, it's the name of the Q series of processors :)

A CM 850W should be fine.

Cool I was getting worried I might have to spend a small fortune again soon but seems I should be ok for now then.
As the price of SSD has come down since I last looked maybe I should get one even if just for the operating system to run of? I would need to find out if it would be fairly easy to setup and keep all my current stuff on my HDD.
