For Example:
The 1090t will be unusable > ????
and the Q6600 will be unusable > ????

*???? = Years

I would like to know this as I am thinking of purchasing a Q6600 or 1090t instead of an i3 2120.
Would this be a good move???

Sorry a bit unclear. Like not fast enough for gaming and video work.
Also sorry for posting in the wrong section :/

Well my Q9450 is about 4 years old and its still usable.

I still can't max it out even non overclocked.

I would upgrade it if i felt the need to but it still does everything i need it to.

Including running BF3, Sony Vegas (Editing 720p vids)

Ok, I'll stick with i3 as I thought that the Q6600 would be better, as it has 4 cores and can be OCed.
Thanks

what do you mean by single threaded???
also i read that the G530 is better than the Q6600

Applications that haven't been made to use multiple cores/don't benefit. An analogy is that to deliver pizzas to 10 houses, 10 bikes is better, whereas to deliver to one house, the other 9 bikes wouldn't really help.

Definitely go for the 2100. I just recently moved from a c2q to a 2100 and it's easily as good, if not better in general day to day use, and for gaming, unless you're at a crazy res it's just fine. I almost didn't upgrade because like you I figured the quad did everything I needed it to so why change. The 2100 is much cooler running, wasn't a lot more money and gives me a boost, plus I'm futureproofed for at least another generation. Buying into 775 right now doesn't make sense.
